What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you visit to Ipoh? For sure it is to eat! So, let’s introduce you the food that you cannot missed when you are in Ipoh. Without further ado, one of the must eat food in Ipoh is bean sprouts chicken also known as ‘Nga Choy Kai’. There are some several shops to eat the bean sprouts chicken such as Lou Wong and Onn Kee. Although the people is not as many as the other two shops, but the reputation is definitely much better than both of them. That’s why many of the local residents strongly recommended Cowan Street as the best spot for bean sprouts chicken.

Cowan Street’s bean sprouts chicken and koitiau is the main dishes that build up their reputation. Ipoh’s bean sprouts chicken are notoriously delicious, it looks fat, short and very crunchy. The reason is because Ipoh has good geographical conditions and surrounded by mountains, so Ipoh’s bean sprouts cultivated sweet and delicious. Besides, the poached chicken is very tender. Even the breast meat that I usually dislike was nice and juicy.

** I can’t stop eating! It was so delicious! **

The business hours of Cowan Street is only for dinner hour, which is from 6.30pm onwards and they will be off on Monday and Tuesday. However, the business hours of Cowan Street is quite erractic. Sometimes, they will suddenly close without any announcement due to the personal reason. Overall, this is a great place for bean sprouts chicken and as I mentioned earlier, it would be a good idea to call ahead before you go there, especially for those coming from other places.
